The right front unit bearing on my 98.5 2500 HD Cummins and the left front on my 2004.5 3500 Cummins both went bad about 100-120,000 miles. I replaced them both with Dana 60 conversions with repackable Timkin bearings...
Not cheap, but will never have the unit bearing failure to worry about again...
