I used epoxy for rebuilding rusty cylinder linner o ring groves and it lasted for 20 years in a 1955 mack nh 220 cummins but no where near a combustion/compression area, also used it in d8 342 cat blocks to patch up hole where stress cracked it, lasted for years as well, i would try it and see what happens then take it by a real shop, they should be able to weld it in place with the head off like in a trailer where they could preheat it and use whatever the latest special rod is to fix it, hard to find block repair machine shops anymore, all they know now is toss it away becuase they dont want too, good luck, just ask for the oldest guy in the machine shop in your area.
