Back in the 80's I used to prime with a Napa red oxide acrylic enamel primer sealer. I primed inside dump beds, tractor carts and that paint is still on there to this day. I don't know what was in it but I was sure impressed with the longevety with no paint covering it. I'm sure it had all the stuff paint these days doesn't have, ha ha!
