A 45-70 would be good in small trees. I did a quick google search on 45-70 and what it stands for. Originally, it was 3 numbers, like 45-70-500 (caliber-powder-bullet weight). And the 70 was 70 grains of black powder. Imagine a 500 grain bullet crashing through brush and twigs, and the impact it still had on the elk. The only thing that scares me is how careful the hunter is to make sure of his target if he is shooting in heavy brush. Hmmmmm, maybe that is where the skeleton comes in? Ha Ha
