The civilian VD and WD 1 ton Trucks up to 1942 had the 8&3/4" 2 pinion gear third member. Begining in 1945-46 they switched to a 4 pinion unit. The 3/4 ton WC Military started out with the 2 pinion type third member, then the improved 2 pinion third member and finally the 4 pinion type. All of the above were 8&3/4" third members. The late series 3/4 ton WC's had the large 9&5/8" third members.
