If it's not too hard, I'd like to remove the plate behind the timing chain to clean it up. The chain doesn't seem to want to come off if I just remove the camshaft sprocket bolts and try to slide the cam sprocket and chain off together. Do I have to pull the crank sprocket? I don't want this project to grow too much, but I removed the timing cover to change the seal so now I'm into it some.
BTW, there's one punch mark on a cam sprocket tooth, but none on the crank sprocket There's a faint mark scribed on the crank sprocket that aligns with the cam sprocket punch mark at #1 TDC on the exhaust stroke. At #1 TDC on the compression stroke it's 180 deg away from the crank. Is this how it should be?
