20 and 30 years ago engines were having problems too. 1st series (Green) Detroit 92's - cracks into cam galley and top deck from water jacket. Cummmins: bad camshafts / premature failures in Big Cam engines along with cracked couterbores. Remember the 80's 8.2 GMC with freestanding Vega type cylinders - what a pain to work on. Then there is GM's failure from the 60's - The Toroflow diesel. Anybody remember International DV550 and DVT 573? All in all I'm still a Cummins and Detroit fan, although more of the 2 cycles than 4. Guess my age is showing. My 2 cents.
