But you can adjust the pressure switch down too. Mine is rated for 175 PSI, but it came set too low at about 120 (wouldn't let the whip valve cycle on continous duty mode), and I have it adjusted to about 145 PSI.
The compressor will cycle a little more but it's not as hard on the compressor and you do get more CFMs from the pump. Plus it ensures I have enough pressure at the far end of my piping.
