If your ball(axle end) is smooth and seal is installed correctly they will hold oil pretty well. (Using oil for 10+yrs and counting) It will seep out the lower kingpin cap a bit ,but I seal that as well, along with the spindle and the lock out. Using oil also eliminates the worry of packing the wheel bearings. It lubes the lockout roller bearing and makes it easier to operate. Grease may be ok with a tract joint but with a cardan it won't get into the cap bearings.
