Thanks to all that offered help/advice etc on my 65 PW that would not start.
I did replace the condensor and the rotor. Not sure which was the probem but the truck started immediately after these changes.
The rotor looked like it was missing something, it was loose on the shaft but could be twisted a few degrees CCW and seemed t o lock into place. Anyway I put a new one on.
I was concerned about removing the condensor because I thought I had to take the little screw/bolt that holds the wire in place...and I didn't see how I could get it back in. But "Junior" reminded me that the it only needed to be loosened because it was a spade connector. So that was as he said, was very easy to do.
There as also the problem with a loose lead to the + terminal on the coil, but this was a false alarm, the connections were right but hidden in the harness.
I will check the timing now because I am not sure the rotors are positioned the same way.
But thanks to all, especially Clint, for your input and help. It does feel really good to have this running again, we use it to plow snow and collect firewood.
