Ditto to Robert. I live in Soldotna and haven't driven my 61 WM300 to Anchorage and don't expect I will. The three hour drive it takes me in my wife's Jeep Liberty is enough; driving the PW would likely add at least an hour and maybe a need of dialysis.
Putting in the buckets will help, but as Robert says, haul down on the belt. The three of us know what our roads and weather are like, but unless you really have to, drive something else to Anchorage. Just my thoughts,
Like Robert, it would be great to know where you're at.
