OT Request for help on front end work for a 2005 Dodge 3/4 t

My son has a 2005 Dodge 3/4 ton diesel with the typical for Dodge front end problems.
Besides tie rod ends and ball joints what else wears out on these things?
I am sure this is something that can be repaired at home with fairly basic tools other than the front end alignment of course.
