Sometime back I bought the rubber cab mounts from VPW. I think it was last year when I finally got around to replacing the old style cab mounts on my WDX with the new style rubber mounts. I installed them the way the book on Power Wagon body work that Dave Butler made and sells, shows, which sounds much like the way you're describing. When I was done, the hood no longer lined up. So it was back to the book, and it mentions shimming the cab mounts and the radiator mounts in order to get the hood back in alignment so that the latches work right. Sorry, I don't have the tools to post pictures.
