With an empty pickup box, the truck will ride like an empty dump truck. With as little as 500 lbs in the pickup box, your ride will be much better.
You have a '46 so you have one of the best riding Power-Wagons of all the WDX-WM300 models. This is assuming you still have the stock leaf springs. The '46 and early '47 models used the most compliant and lowest load-rated spring sets. Shortly afterward Power-Wagons were equipped with heavier rated springs. The difference between the way my '47 rides compared to my '51 is night and day.
With that said, I have no idea how much heavier the 4bt is going to be than the old 230. You may find that the truck is too heavy in the front and too light in the rear (no load) for effective braking unless you are planning to add a proportioning valve to the brake system.
I also have concerns about frost heaves that you might encounter at speed. Anytime you deviate from the original design of a vehicle (changing suspension, going to larger tires, changing steering, more weight from engine upgrades) you may cause surprising handling characteristics. Don't go hitting your first frost heave at 60 mph until you learn how the truck is going to react under different condition.
