Guys..been a while since I've posted as I sold my last PW a year or so ago, however I know i'll get some worthwhile advice here as many of you have 350 experience.
I'm helping a buddy with his 72 Cheyenne that blew a head gasket. We pulled the heads which ended up being warped....block is fine. Bought and installed a good set of LT1 heads that were just re-done. Installed Headman headers at the same time. New plugs, wires, cap, rotor, etc.... After taking the valve lash out in the sequence recommended, and to tightness recommended, cylinders 3 and 5 were not firing. Truck would not idle by itself and the tell tale sign was that the header paint never burned off these header tubes!
Pulled the valve covers with motor running and adjusted the valves the old fashion way....now 3 is the only cylinder not firing; truck is running MUCH better and will idle fine by itself. The timing is set DEAD ON!
After running checks the plug wire is good, plug is good, cap has no crack, valves in head are good, rockers are moving as they should, etc.....
Any ideas on how to get this thing to fire on all eight cylinders????!!!!
ANY help is appreciated!!! Thanks for listening...hope all is well.
John (my email is johncampise@hotmail.com if anyone would like to email me direct, however, I will check back)
