I have not had trouble with the pin synchros in a 435 but the 3 speed I had many years ago seemed to break the pins fairly often. I had to replace them several times as the shifting became quite deteriorated with broken pins. I doubt the 435 is as abused as my 3 speed was but might be something to look at in addition to the prior comments
