Like an IDIOT, I sold my WM300... How can I locate it now?

I sold a truck several years ago. All I have left are the memories and a few pictures.

I can recall the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). Can I use this information to legally locate the truck, assuming it is registered? Im not sure the Division of Motor Vehicles (Virginia) is to fond of handing out this information.

Last word was that the truck had been re-sold to someone in New Jersey, but that may be incorrect.
