M37.....later B model

....It's been 5 years since I sold an early M-37 I owned..planning to buy another(already restored) in the next few years. I have a couple of questions on M-37's. First, why are there so many 53' M-37's out there? They were manufactured through the rest of the 50's,yet most I've seen for sale or discussed are listed w/a 53' vintage. Second,did the later B models all come equipped w/a synchro transmission? And last,was there a comparable (military or commercial) 1 piece wheel that would look "right" on an M-37 in lieu of the issued wheel(and it's split rim)?..........Thanks.......Bob T.
