I'm not sure that I understand your question. In most cases and wich can not "coast". Engaging a transmission while coasting without double-clutching or appropriate use of the throttle is where sychronization comes in. None of the winches or ptos that I know of have sychro rings. If this doesn't answer your question, be more specific.
