Well, I've only done half of the job so far but it was the important part, where the frame needed it the worst: from the cab back. Was very bad in the region over the rear wheels. Here's what I did. I removed the bed off of the truck (eight bolts holding it on,) and removed everything else down to the metal. This included brackets, gas tank, wiring harness, etc. I then used a cone wire brush attachment on my hand held grinder to scour the frame down to the metal. This was probably the hardest part because you have to hit it from every angle. If you have access to a sand blaster I would recommend that instead. Then I got a metal primer and primed the bare metal. Last of all I used some of the same kind of industrial strength oil base paint I used on the bed and painted the frame and all of the metal bracket that had been removed. There are probably better paints to use out there than what I used, but I was on a cheap budget and I just wanted to get the major rust stopped. Eventually I will probably do the whole thing over again, stripping the entire truck to the frame, sand blasting it then using a paint gun with an air compressor(I brushed it on last time.)
P.S. the reason why my warranty sticker is in good shape is because there had been some kind of glove box holder mounted over the top of it for probably the last twenty years and I only discovered it after it was removed.
