Do you have a fuel filter mounted on the regulator brkt?
I had the same problem for over a year, changed and checked everything in sight.
Was installing an elec. fuel pump and changing the lines and just happened to fill a measuring cup with gas from the out side and left in the cold, result=very fine particles of rust that you could not see until the settled out.
Bypassed the filter and used an inline one, no problem since.
