At one time, the categories that we voted upon at the VPW rallies were:
1) Best Original Condition
2) Most Authentic Restoration
3) Best Equipped for its Purpose
4) Most Used
5) Best Personalized
6) Most Abused
7) Best of Show
These categories got changed slightly to:
1) Best Original Condition
2) Most Authentic Restoration
3) Best Equipped for its Purpose
4) Most Used of Abused
5) Best Personalized
6) Most Favorite Military at Show
7) Most Favorite Civilian at Show
Later, the categories got changed again and go something like:
1) Best WWII Half Ton
2) Best WWII 3/4-ton
3) Best M-series
4) Best WDX-WM300
5) Best Power Giant
6) Best W-series
7) Best of Show
I don't know why they got changed. It used to be that EVERYONE had an equal chance to win a plaque, usually in more than one category, and the categories celebrated the different tastes of the owners. Now, only the shiny ones win. It is kind of like the judging at any other car show. The best way to win now is to show up with the only 1/2-ton, or the only W-series, etc. there. If you are the only one in the category, you are almost guaranteed to win.
