Do practice welds first . Keep the heat down and watch the time you apply the heat . If you have a timer you can adjust it till all the welds look the same . If not I have found holding the power until I see the metal turn red is about right .
We are talking bits of a second . Keep the tips clean , If the surface that the tip contacts is melting the heat is too high or the power has been on too long . Too much heat contaminates the tip and makes for messy spot welds .
