In trying to find a simple way of determining the rear axle ratio on a dead parts truck missing the little tag, it was suggested by a friend that I jack one wheel, mark the drive shaft with chalk, and count the revs as I slowly rotated the wheel one complete turn.
Not. One whole turn on the wheel only produced two complete turns on the drive shaft?
Is there some "math" here, like double the number for a 4:10 or 4:00 --or will that never work...is there an even simpler way (door tags and plates are missing)???
