1954 Dodge M37 Winch model with 7’ utility or fire body. $2,500

T245 6-cylinder flathead engine, 4-speed transmission, 4-wheel drive train, with good brakes, and only shows 11,640 miles on the odometer. Converted to 12v. operation with an alternator, a battery shut-off switch, and solenoid-type starter. No modifications to the drive train that I am aware of. Has a matched set of Armstrong Tru-Grip RV 9.00-16LT tires with good tread; but they are older tires with tiny age cracks in them. Good seats. All glass is cracked except the driver’s window, and the after-market rear slider. I do not know history on this truck, but judging by the workmanship on the shop-built hard cab, and the fact that it was a fire truck, it was probably well taken care of, and also probably spent a lot of its life indoors. Hard cab has been stitch-welded directly to the cab body. I know there is some bondo on the cowl area of the cab.

This an original winch model, with the PTO, driveline, winch bumpers, dash data plates, etc. but the winch itself had been removed. I was very recently able to purchase a winch to install on the truck, so a few incidental items may still be missing at time of sale, but the basics are all there. The front bumpers, frame extensions, and brackets have been welded to the truck frame. There was a lightweight boom assembly used on the front of the truck at some point, and one leg of it is still mounted in a rack on top of the rear body. (see photo) No winch cable or hook, although I might have some commercial cable that would be very workable. At the time of this writing, the winch has simply been bolted into place, and has not yet been hooked up to driveline, and all brackets, etc.

7’ all steel utility body. (2) upper front compartments go all the way through across the body. Each side has (2) additional compartments, and there is one rear-facing compartment, and large open center area. Steel rear bumper with receiver-type hitch and tow loops. The rear of the utility body or supports for it are welded to the truck frame.

Has been parked for a while, but I put in 5 gallons of gas, applied some starting fluid, and it started right up and drove fine, with probably a need for a little carburetor tinkering, and checking vacuum lines to run nice and smooth. I am told the brakes were all redone on this truck. I added some brake fluid, and brakes seem to work great; I see no leaks in the brake system. Headlights worked, turn signals did not.

Lost our storage, so it needs to find a new home!

No title for this truck, legal CA bill of sale only. I can get you a title if you are willing to wait a long time for it. CA DMV is VERY SLOW. The VIN is 80259348, and this number matches stamped on the frame, and on the dash data plate; delivered 1/7/1954.

I have a good set of photos I can email on this truck, so if you would like to see them, please ask.
