Not quite two years ago I brought an Aerostar that didn't run because the altenator was missing. The guy said "Sure it will pass IM. Just needs an altenator". I figured a new altenator and I would have a decent van. Boy did I get hosed. Turns out it's got the 4.0 engine that has a history of valve problems. Not only does this thing not pass IM, turns out a previous owner had cut all the seat belts. Then duct taped them back together.
