My son and I started collecting old Dodge trucks in the early eighties. We started with 2WD's - a '41 WC, a '46 WC, and a '46 WD15. Here's where our story is different from most folks on the Forums... The first thing we did was buy a factory service manual.
In the Summer of 1986, we found a ranch truck about two miles from home. It had a 1 1/2 ton cab and front sheet metal. It was 4WD and we thought it might be a Marmon Herrington conversion.
Thanks to the manual, we quickly found out the chassis and drive line were all from an original WDX that had been in a minor wreck. We were very pleased to find that the rancher who built this truck moved the data plate to the "new" cab. Here is the data plate and it matches the VIN on the frame.
One of my obligations as an old retired guy it drink coffee and tell stories with other old guys every morning. About three weeks ago, I learned that one of these guys was the one who rebuilt this WDX.
