Dodge produced a truck in 1954 that remains somewhat of a mystery. It was called the "Dodge 4x4 Special Truck, model C1-QW6". The Vintage Power Wagon literature collection has a copy of the cover of the "drivers guide" for this truck - literature code #DX7334.
I have always wondered if this publication was in support of the mystery Power Wagon that was written about years ago in the Power Wagon Advertiser. The article was written by John Zentmyer in response to an earlier article by Paul Lacy. The truck Paul had seen in person, and the factory photo that John provided, were of a truck that basically consisted of a C1PW frame, running gear, winch, pickup bed, fenders and running board. All with a 2WD C1 cab, and front clip installed in place of the Power Wagon parts. The 2WD fenders had prominent fender flares.
It was determined that the truck(s) in question were probably produced by the SEG in an attempt to create a more contemporary design for the Power-Wagon, a prototype if you will that would eventually morf into the W100 and W200 introduced in 1957.
This truck appears to be yet another avenue of exploration, perhaps a C1-QW8?
The document is the "Dodge Owner Service Certificate" and would have been filled out by the dealer and would include 1,000 and 3,000 mile service coupons. It is interesting that the line titled - "****nd Special Equipment" reads: GI Transfer Case and Ft. & Rear Axles.
