Ceramic Resistor mounted by coil

Another question for the men with the knowledge. I'm finding when the truck has been run and gets hot it won't start. If you bypass the resistor and jumper the two wires it will fire right up. Never a starting problem when it's cold. I have ruled out fuel issues. P.S. It's a 1957 W300 Power Wagon. It's a fresh restoration and every thing is new. Any clues would be greatly appreciated.
