had time to work on the command car timing. found the points dirty and even a bit worn for a truck with only test miles. i went into my spares and found the pertronix #1569 i bought back in 1996 but forgot about and hadn't installed in the dist. i rotated engine to tdc on the top stroke, pulled the dist and installed the pertronix. took about 20 mins to remove and reinstall. put dist back in & after finding the instructions had an error about reattaching any ground wires, it fired right up. timed it to about 4-5 degrees btdc and found it to be more responsive and to have more power. i am waiting for my vacuum gauge and then i will dial it all in. Spare dist will be checked & packed as a backup. thanks..
