In answer to your questions;
1. In my opinion, neither the OEM Vacuum or Electric wipers will handle serious winter storms with freezing rain, slush, snow and winter road slop. If you dont live in a serious winter area and only need to deal with rain the OEM wipers should do the job. I have been looking for a good powerful Plug N Play wiper motor that will fit in the overhead valance and handle the serious winter weather we get here in the mountains. So far I have not found that wiper motor. This winter I am going to do my best to find that motor.
2. The Glove box springs must be removed first. They are semi circle and hood on the glove box door and wrap under the dash to the mount point. With the door closed, carefully remove the two semi circle springs. Then open the glove box door and look down at the edge of the box and you will see the screws needed to be removed. to liberate the hinge/door
3. The gauges have studs on the back of the case. There is a metal bracket that mounts on the stud and presses against the rear of the dash. From memory ??
use a 3/8" nut driver to remove the nut holding the bracket. Then once the wires are removed the gauges will come out from the front.
4. Removing the windshield is a 2 person operation. You first must crank open the windshield. You will see 2 screws mounting the regulator tape to the windshield frame. You must carefully remove these screws. Heat and Wax helps. Be careful you dont snap them off. Then remove the two covers that cover the wiper motors in the valance. Look inside and you will see the right and left hinge that mount the windshield. Again from memory, they are 7/16" bolts. The windshield can then be lifted out.
5. Look up from under the dash at the cowl vent. You will see how the arm from the opening lever attaches to the cowl vent. Remove these screws. On each side of the cowl vent you will find a 'shoulder bolt' that is the hinge point for the cowl vent door. Dont loose these shoulder bolts, without them the cowl vent door will never function properly on re-assembly.
