I believe the '68 came with the NP420. If it has a pto then that is the trans to get for your conversion to small block (for ease of pto compatibility), but you would need to find the longer input shaft from a D/W series truck that used a NP420. Not sure what trans is in the '60/61 D700, might be a NP420 too. Someone should know the answer.
