We have over 400,000 miles on my wife's 80 series land cruiser, almost all on gravel roads and no break downs. Only have about 200,000 on our 100 series, only weak points are the integrated heater/stereo/nav controls and the height control suspension (should have bought one without both systems). Likely we'll be buying a new 200 series before winter to replace it, but the 1992 80 series will be kept as the back up vehicle.
The biggest thing to keep in mind is that most people take advantage of the land cruiser's reliability and toughness, do little preventative maintenance, and sell them once things start going wrong.
Good luck,
Neil
