I keep a hydraulic bottle jack for emergencies. A 2 ton jack will never even strain itself while changing a tire. As stated in the other post, a short chunk of 4x4 to place against the axle while jacking will save some "scope" on the jack.
Try to avoid the Chinese made jacks, as they leak oil prematurely.
