Yep, a 1/2 inch piece of all-thread, a large deep socket and some nuts and washers should make a puller that will work fine.
I like to use an air chisel. It will drive a bushing out in short order. Try using a punch instead of a chisel-end. That allows the air chisel to drive out the bushing rather than cut it.
