I like the high-lift jacks used by 4X4 people. They take up some space, but they are very versatile. If I'm going somewhere that I think I might not be able to get help, I put a high lift jack in back.
High-lift jacks require a good bumper, but they can get you out of places any other jack would be useless. They're also quicker to use and don't require you to get down on the ground or under the vehicle to position them.
