I am one of those who have actually hauled trucks. Most hauls were acquisitions for the Kempner Power Wagon Museum. Some were for my personal collection. And some were for someone else.
I know what it costs.
Most of my hauls were two vehicles. The trip expenses were the same whether hauling one or two. Only the fuel costs varied and the Cummins fuel for two was usually no more than 10% more than needed for one. Meals, motels, oil changes, tire repairs, etc., were the same.
It turned out that I could not make a one-way, round trip for less than having a vehicle delivered to my door by a professinal hauler.
I no longer need to haul two vehicles. Most of my miles are now on a travel screen on my compurer. Thanks to the internet, I am able to find vehicles a whole lot closer.
Before any of you comment on hauling prices, be sure you know what you are talking about. Then, shop to find a REPUTABLE hauler with REFERENCES and PROPER EQUIPMENT. Now you can compare those prices making allowances for pick up and delivery dates and other factors like can the vehicle be driven. Do the pieces have to be secured separately from the vehicle (Don't need a hood blowing out of the bed).
Or you can share your expertise AFTER YOU HAVE MADE some hauls.
