I'm taking the assembly apart today, and I'll let ya know. Sounds like the pin may be it. After I cleaned it up I noticed the part of the pin sticking out moves quite a bit as I move the shifter around. Oh, and yes, it does slop around when IN gear...kinda like an old cab-over with worn out linkage.
