Randy I'm not too sure of the exact thickness, my glass guy gave me a couple different thicknesses to use. It was about 1" wide and I just wrapped it around the edge of the glass and pounded the glass into the window channel with a rubber mallet. I'll bet EPDM rubber roof material would work also, you just have to play with it to see what thickness really works without distorting the window frame.
