It may not be the strongest tranny in the world, but since the 80's days of the CJ T5, the tranny was much improved and now is available as teh 'World Class' T5 tranny that should be fine behind anything with less than a few hundred ft-lbs of torque. Some of thes trannies are even rated for just over 300 ft-lbs of torque.
It can be a great car tranny with smooth sifts and an overdrive... but it is fairly light duty.
