Brazing does work well on cast iron. If you can also drill and tap a hole for a small threaded rod to help hold the pieces together it will be stronger. Say a small screw and then grind off the head.
If you weld with cast iron (Ni-Cad) rod you should have the piece at about 400 degrees the whole time you are welding. You also need to cool it real real slow! Dig a hole in your backyard and line it with bricks to make a small oven. Get a bag of BBQ coals in your Webber fully red. Place your manifold in the oven and cover it on all sides with the hot coals. Place bricks on top and finish with dirt. Let it burn out for at least 2 days and then uncover. It will be stress relieved and as strong as its going to get. This also works with cylinder heads.
