Hi Mike, my 1940 VD-21 Dodge 1-ton 2 wheel drive truck contains the differential case (part that goes into the center of the differential housing) from a WWII 1/2 ton WC. I bought mine from Hafer's in Salt Lake City, Utah about 15 years ago. They had to machine out the side gears to allow the larger diameter axles from the semi-floating setup to fit. I don't think you can convert a 2 wheel drive 3rd member to a 4 wheel drive unit without a bunch of problems, because the 2 wheel drive unit is a semi-floating type, versus a full floating type for the 4 wheel drive.
