"Refurbished", "rebuilt", and "reconditioned" are not the same as "restored." As a general rule, those who do a "frame off" restoration have photos and other documentation to show the process. A documented restoration justifies the premium price.
How much do you know about Power Wagons? When I was getting started, I bought a beautifully "restored" Power Wagon. After I had it a while, I realized the bed was not original or an accurate reproduction. It was not a 2WD bed either. It was a copy - 2 stake pockets per side - well done, but some dimensions were not right. Several other things were not authentic. It was a good truck but not a restoration. Many very nice Power Wagons have been upgraded and even customized, but they are not "restored."
Now I know what to look for. If you are new, get someone who knows - preferably who has restored - to look at any prospective purchase with you. Most Power Wagon folks are totally honest. Some may honestly misuse the word, "restored", but there are a few who might intentionally misrepresent their trucks. Afterall, they are trying to sell and for the highest price. Good Luck.
