Wow! You are green. After all the forum talk its hard to believe you haven't learned that a 318 is a smallblock V-8 engine as is the 273,340,360 and they all share the same eng. to bellhousing bolt pattern.Prior to the early 60s and the inline slant/6 cyl. eng. at 170 and 225 cu. in.,there was only the L-head or flathead inline 6 cyl. engine in sizes below and including the 230,251,265,and larger engines in the larger trucks.Facing the eng. compartment,if it is a 6cyl. it is a 225 and if its a smallblock V-8 it is most likely a 318. In your case you should have the eng. # checked out if it is a V-8 as it could possibly be a 383 big block.
