This may sound strange but try a "draw" paint scraper that you buy for your house. they are usually black and have a four sided re-sharpenable blade. I used one on my frame, it caused little to no gouging, and removed the majority of the paint from flat areas in the matter of an hour and a half. I then used my sand blaster for the tight areas. If you do scrape off the paint go over the metal areas with an orbital sander to rough up the metal so it will accept paint. Good Luck.
