Maybe the correct tact with a "person" like this is to say "Gee, I can't believe you let it go for that cheap. I was willing to pay up to $9000 for it. It was just what I was looking for." Then walk away. Let him stare at the ceiling for a few nights for giving you the run-around. Just a thought.
