I did weld the angle strips together with the fender stamped strips, but I had a straightedge on the bed side. Looks good from top, but underneath you can see the new holes near the old holes.
Working in a cramped driveway, I built the bed right on the truck. Next one, I dunno. I did manage to R&R the bed later, by clamping an extension to the boom of my engine hoist. That way I can reach from rear to center of balance of bed. Four straps from hook to pipes stuck into ends of bed roll-overs.
