The only time I can think of is if the start switch sticks, then maybe 100 amps, once in a lifetime. Otherwise, the max throughput wouldn't arc any contacts.
Normal use would be to isolate the battery, turned on and off with zero load. I would think any one would do, provided it is rated for about 100 amps. Biggest load would be the starter, and since power equals amps time volts, a six volt starter ought to draw four times as many amps as a 24v.
Though I suppose the mfg may think he needs to rate them as switching the full load?
