The other thing to look out for is how various programs want to install some kind of "browser tool bar", and they WILL do it if you don't explicitly tell them not to. Sometimes they even set up the yes/no buttons very sneakily to try to trick you into installing it. Google toolbar is the most common, but there are others. What they all want to do is intercept your web searches and spy on you for the purposes of delivering "targeted" advertising. Some of them are even more nefarious and are pretty much blatant spyware. Never accept add-on tool-bars, screen savers, animated smilies, or any other such junk.
Eventually we'll probably be stuck with "upgrading" to 4.X, but by then hopefully they will have worked the bugs out and will have added a "compatibility mode" for those of us who want it to look like 3.6X, sort of like how the newer version of Windoze lets you select the "classic" look.
