unless you have a full flow oil filter. Even if you clean the sludge out of an old motor, don't use detergent oil unless you install a full-flow oil filter. Detergent keeps the sludge in suspension. If the sludge is not filtered out of the oil, detergent oil circulates the sludge through your bearings. It would be preferable to have the sludge build up harmlessly in the pan.
